The Valentine in My Life

The Valentine in my life is so many things.

Not the things measured by media, what’s trending, or the world.

My Valentine is not loud, driven by inclinations, or the center of attention.

She is not calculating, aggressive, or motivated by self.

My Valentine is the pictures in our home, the places we’ve been, and the memories of our life.

The stories she reads to children, the laughter in her voice, and the light in her eyes.

She is a quiet presence, sprinkled with kindness and attention for others.

My Valentine is all the books, movies, art, and music she loves.

She is morning drowsiness, movie snuggles, and afternoon naps.

The smiles and tears she can’t help stirred by the strength of her beliefs.

My Valentine is friendships, family, and the values she lives.

She is all about comfort, quiet confidence, and  sweet companionship.

The life we’ve made, the future we pray for, and each day we’re together.

My Valentine is compassion, understanding, and forgiveness.

She is an intriguing glance, a warm touch, and a passionate embrace.

My Valentine is made of so much beauty, strength, and love.

Happy Valentines Day Emily!

Kevin is pretty much like you – perhaps he is one of the many voices in your head – not good or evil – not edifying or justifying – more curious and concerned – Kevin’s thoughts typically address a wide arrange of topics similar, but not limited to… …the spontaneous events and conundrums of the day. …observations and questions consequential to society, culture, and the pulse of the nation. …the Church wrestling for footing against ‘church stuff’. …the funny, foolish, flattery, and flippant that is the human condition.
