Moral Modification is NOT Gospel Transformation

Our pastor gave us a very good, very relevant subtext bullet two weeks ago – “moral modifications are not “gospel transformations.”

This resonated with me as churches struggle with clashing cultures, Christian Nationalism, and so called “woke agendas” – the application is simple:

A forced, legislated, or socially bullied moral modification compromises any effort to reach the world around us – because there is no gospel transformation associated with those efforts.

We are all called to “go” (Matthew 28) to the world near and far – we are also called to go in love (John 13) – going without that love, without a Christ-like posture, without a heart for world will only build barriers between us and those we’re called to reach.

POINT: We are NOT called to force, legislate, or socially bully the gospel to the world around us – we are called to go in love, care for, and serve the world around us, “so they may know who we are disciples of.”

We should take care that our desires for moral modifications don’t outweigh our efforts for gospel transformations – because in the end,  our fruits will always define and identify us.

Kevin is pretty much like you – perhaps he is one of the many voices in your head – not good or evil – not edifying or justifying – more curious and concerned – Kevin’s thoughts typically address a wide arrange of topics similar, but not limited to… …the spontaneous events and conundrums of the day. …observations and questions consequential to society, culture, and the pulse of the nation. …the Church wrestling for footing against ‘church stuff’. …the funny, foolish, flattery, and flippant that is the human condition.
